Think I may be allergic to gluten. Attended a nutritional seminar this weekend and muscle tested positive for it. Gonna give it a two week elimination, and strong day dose of gluten and see what type of reaction I get.
You should be aware you probably won't notice any dramatic improvement in only two week's time. From Dr. Mercola's site:
Unfortunately, most people don't feel better immediately after eliminating gluten from their diets as
it may take 30 to 60 days for the inflammation to subside, and up to 9 to 12 months for the lining of your small intestine to heal. On rare occasions an individual may experience significant improvement within weeks of eliminating gluten from their diet. But in other cases people may feel considerably worse upon initially starting a gluten free diet. This is usually due to other unidentified food allergies and food sensitivities -- a problem that plagues about
75 percent of the population. In fact, food cravings can often serve as a gauge of food sensitivity. Craving dairy products or breads, for example, can be an indication that you are sensitive to that food, especially if you crave it but then feel worse after eating it.
For most people with gluten intolerance, by around 6 to 9 months of being gluten free, noticeable physical and mental/emotional changes will have taken place.Yeah, the purpose initially is not so much to look for improvment. More to identify if I have a sensitivity or not. General rule for us to test some of the allergies is to give it a couple weeks to get out of the system then overload yourself with it. Any sort of reaction in the following 72 hours other than a normal day would indicate a sensitivity, backup the muscle testing, and give me something good to look at against the blood test I'll get on Monday.
So...... the GI np called today and was wondering why I wanted a gluten test. I told her my reasoning and that no one had ever check or even asked to check it before. They call back a little later and conferred my blood test for Monday, and decided they wanted to add in an endoscopy and biopsy, lol. I was like, "Uh, why?" Evidently to check for celiac sprue. I declined. I really don't need a tube stuck down my throat and cut on, just because I brought up a simple blood test.

you can get prepared
But like Dr. A, I was tested for celiac and it came up negitive but I know I can't do gluten foods, nor corn, rice, oats.
I read that can happen. Get neg. on blood but can still have the sensivity. Always better to trust the body than a test.
