A perfusionist is someone who controls the heart and lung machine during cardiac surgery. I'm assuming that would require an education like mine, 3 years of on campus classes and a year of clinical training. Its probably not offered at many schools so he would probably have to search pretty hard.
No matter what biology degree you go for, its going to be pure hell, especially in the medical field!!
However even though its been rough I absolutely love being a biology major and wouldn't trade it for anything.
My school doesn't offer biological engineering but we do have biotechnology which is basically the same thing. He'll have to take a ton of chemistry, probably general, organic, biochem, and maybe polymer?
The best thing to do to get educated is go the websites of the schools he's interested in and look under the academic programs. They usually give a descript
ion of the degree and the required classes etc.
