I live about
an hour north of Seattle and the northwest CCFA chapter is having *free* (lunch included!) conference on Sunday! Here's the list of topics and speakers:
1.) IBD 101: Overview of Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis -- Stephen Rulyak, MD 2.) Current & Future Therapies for IBD -- Robert Wohlman, MD 3.) Pediatric IBD Issues -- Dr. Bisher Abdullah 4.) Coping Strategies for Patients & Families, Followed by Patients & Loved Ones Panel -- Theresa Rogers, LCSW 5.) Women & IBD -- Betty White, MN, ARNP 6.) "I'd Like to Buy a Bowel" Surgery Related to IBD -- Donna Rydberg, MSN, RN, CWOCN 7.) Alternative Therapies -- Christine Bowen, ND (naturopathic medicine), Karen Lamphere, MS, CN (nutrition) & Trevor Sevigny, MSAOM (acupuncture)
*Plus, pediatric & adult patient panels during lunch!*
I'm hoping that it's as informative as it looks and I'm looking forward to meeting other people with IBDs in my area. I also am getting involved with the chapter. I volunteered to distribute information to local GIs offices and I signed up for the Take Steps walk. It feels good to feel like I'm doing something to help find a cure for this DD! |
