Anoyne have success w/Lialda when Asacol failed?

I've had UC for 6 years.  I tried Asacol, Pentasa, Colazal, and Rowasa when I was first diagnosed.  They never seemed to work and I often wondered if they made my symptoms worse.  It's been 4-5 years since I've tried any of them.  I was so new to the disease that I felt like it was such a learning curve and I never knew what was working and what wasn't.

My new doctor is having me try Lialda in combination w/6MP (I've been on 6MP before but never with other meds).  I'm hopeful that the combo will work and I'll have better success with it.  I was curious if anyone did bad on Asacol but had success with Lialda.

I had side effects from Asacol, so I didn't take it for more than a couple days. I have had no problems with Lialda. However, I am also on Remicade, and I'm barely hanging on. I do notice things are worse though when I forget to take the Lialda (forgot a couple weekends ago - both sat and sunday and paid for it on Monday!).

Hi all, Yes, I was on 12 asacols per day and still bleeding. I changed doctors and was put on 2 lialda per day, 1.2 mg-one in morning and one at night. I, also, use the the mesalimine enemas at night. Some nights I try to skip them just to see if I can only use them perhaps every other night. But, I am so pleased that I am going into remission with the lialda. The doctor gave me a card with a number to call and register so that the prescription will not cost so much. I have not registered yet since he gave me plenty of samples, which was very nice of him. I really thought I would never quit bleeding, had lost from 115 lbs to 107 - losing a pound a day. In three weeks, I have gained my weight back. This is a tough condition to deal with and changes your life totally. But, I wish you the best with it!
