Longest run of Prednisone and dosage??

I cannot seem to get below 15mg of prednison without major flare and arthitis symptoms . I am awaiting a referal to specialist for arthitis , In the meantime I Know that Prednisone is not a long term option for me as I do have bone density issues, however it is the only thing that works.

I would like to know how long a duration of prednisone and what dosages were experience by others.

I did varying doses, 5mg to 40mg, for 2.5 years before opting for surgery. Just make sure that while you are taking prednisone that you are involved in regular weight bearing exercise and taking calcium supplements. Long term prednisone use is considered 4 months at any dosage.

Have you ever thought of using Sallaki/Boswellia for treating arthritis. It is supposed to be good and can be taken instead of pred. Please consult your doc if he believes in ayurvedic/alternate treatment. Lots of people in India, Germany and other countries are using it.
