We went to Chicago for the weekend.  It's about a 4 hour drive.  I survived on lots of Immodium and Xanax. lol.  I did just fine and only had to go to the bathroom a few times in the morning before we left our hotel.  I even drank wine every day and was still able to manage due to the Immodium and Xanax.  It was a fun trip but I sure wish I could go away and not have to worry about if/when I'm going to have to go to the bathroom.  Oh well, at least this trip was a success.  I just miss the pre-UC days when the thought of going to the bathroom never entered my mind.

It's the small accomplishments that make us smile! Yay for you :) I'm glad you had a good time and had no issues!

Excellent! There's plenty of bathrooms in Chicago to use.

This maybe a little off topic, but may I ask what sights did you take in while in Chicago?

Girl, I know how you feel about never ever having to think of a bathroom! Now, that's all we do.  I'm glad you trip was a success and you had fun! I have the worst gut spasms, what do you take for your or haven't you had to do this?

I'm in the dating ring and it's a nightmare, I'm worried about "accidents".I'm still doing the 10 mg of pred and the LDN at night. From what people are saying I should see results on the LDN, nothing yet.

There are plenty of bathrooms but it's no fun worrying while waiting in line for things or being in a car for 4 hours. That's what the Xanax is for, it really makes that anxiety go away. :)

Hmm let's see, we started out by going to Gino's for lunch, then to American Girl so my 6 year old could get a doll, then we walked the rest of Michigan Ave. We went to Ed Debevic's for dinner that night. On Saturday we went to Shedd Aquarium then Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. We went to Navy Pier and rode on the ferris wheel. I had a yummy Haagen Dazs mudslide. lol. We had dinner at Dick's Last Resort and then back to Navy Pier for fireworks (we watched from the bar at Riva). We basically did the typical touristy stuff because it was my daughter's first time in a big city so we wanted to show her all of the fun stuff that we don't have at home.

Linda-I don't have spasms like that. I do have urgency though, when I have to go...I have to go! Luckily my flare is getting way better so Immodium works wonders for me and the Xanax puts my anxiety to rest. Most of my issues when I'm flaring are stemmed from worrying about not making it to a bathroom. I take the Xanax so I don't have those worries anymore. I would've never made it on a 4 hour car ride without it...or on top of the ferris wheel...or waiting in line for 20 minutes to get into the aquarium.

I was at the Hard Rock Cafe a couple weeks ago to see the lead singer of Everclear do a story telling - this was the one in Detroit. Lordy were they expensive though! I'm assuming all the Hard Rocks cost the same? It sounds like you had a fun time! My daughter had an American Girl doll when she was younger and we passed her down to my nieces but we recently got her back. But my daughter absolutely loved her AG doll.

Yes, we had the deep dish at Gino's...it was sooo good!

Everything in Chicago is expensive so we didn't notice the Hard Rock being anymore expensive than anything else. We didn't have one meal with drinks for less than $50. At Hard Rock we split nachos and chicken strips, and each had 2 drinks and it was $50. Gino's was the same way...small pizza and 4 drinks = $50! We haven't been to Hard Rock in Detroit yet.

GOOD FOR YOU!!! Yeehaaa!!!!... that is such a great feeling isn't it! I Just travelled 13 hours one way an 13 back Mich to NC...Bathroon stops for sure, but not EMERGENCY stops!! Some years back we went on a family vacation to Myrtle Beach and I was downing the immodium and starving myself to avoid any emergencies...now that you mention it, what DOES it feel like to not be thinking about bathroom breaks!! Celebrate the little victories as someone here said. There will be many good days ahead for most of us, just try not to let the bad ones tear us down...
