niccotine for uc?

Well even I had read a similar article long time back. In any case I would not like to promote or recommend cigarette smoking. It is like having a bigger problems to sort out small one.

Well I do not know if it is nicotine, or the CO2, or the calming effects on the nervous system...and I am not sure that we have a solid answer on this yet from the medical community. In my experience returning to smoking after 15 years without it has brought much relief. In my mind I agree with glamourgirl in exhausting all options before trying remicade or surgery. Some of the drugs for treating UC are carcinogenic as or at least hard on the body in many ways. I don't want to choose any of the options before me but I must...as we all must...

I'm a former smoker who developed uc and, before an official diagnosis, I was unwittingly treating it with cigarettes. When I quit for good, all hell broke loose.

In consideration of newer studies suggesting it's the CO that effects uc, I tried smoking non-tobacco cigarettes, the kind actors smoke. They produce CO but don't have the nicotine. They didn't do anything.

Seems like the nicorette gum causes problems we might not want -sad stories here: http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=18612&name=NICORETTE I say either smoke or not, the gum and patches are rubbish.

I wouldn't advise smoking cigarettes to combat UC, just like I wouldn't advise smoking marijuana to combat UC.

My lungs are more important than my colon. Beside smokers smell bad all the time, not just when they can't hold it in.
