Is it common to have these conditions together? They are calling my UC "complicated" because these two conditions co-exist. From everything I have read I am really not sure what "uncomplicated" UC looks like...lol.

Gosh, with both UC and diverticulitis I think I would skip all treatment and go straight to surgery!! Well, not really. But it is NOT common to have both diseases. I think you are maybe the second person I have heard of this happening too, but that's just based on internet discussion sites. Hopefully you can keep both conditions in remission.

Oh my goodness! I'd head straight for surgery too! I have UC and my mom has diver and we pretty much have the same symptoms. I can't imagine having both! I hope things stay under control for you! :)

Well, gee, that makes me feel better...lol. Actually, I have found some sites that talk about
a weird form of colitis that exist with diverticulosis, but no one seems sure what to do about
it other than treat the UC. Unfortunately, the best thing to do for diverticulosis is eat more fiber....which makes the UC much worse. I am really not ready to start thinking about
surgery.

I didn't mean to scare you! I was being much more sarcastic than anything.

Sam...you didn't scare me. I was being sarcastic as well
. I am just frustrated from the multiple test, multiple doctors and no real answers yet. Nothing has worked so far and after a while it gets hard to think the next drug will!

I understand completely how you're feeling! It gets so frustrating sometimes when all you want is to feel good and you have been hit with a double whammy! Things will look up :)
