I just found this forum and would like to hear back from folks. Fifteen years ago, I was diagnosed with IBD and put on ASACOL ($$$). After a year or two, it went away and has stayed away, thankfully.
However, last Wednesday I made Mexican food and used a can of refried beans. Beans usually give me gas, but by Wed night, I was in enormous pain/bloat/borborygmy (sp?). I had a few Asacols left, but was afraid to take them because they are so old. And, I wasn't having diarrhea -- mainly the above symptoms (huge pain, as you all know). Tylenol was the only thing that helped the pain. Nothing else worked for the gas, and it felt like a flare without the diarrhea.
Since then, I've eaten very little. But of course by nighttime, whatever I've eaten during the day starts to trigger the gas/bloat. I'm looking for an antispasmodic that won't constipate and foods that I can eat -- I'm really hungry. Oh, applesauce seems to be ok.
Any ideas? Suggestions? Comments?
Thanks.
