Starting solumedrol (IV) and imuran tomorrow...

I am starting this treatment tomorrow since my flare is not getting better with the oral prednisone and mezavant. I will have two infusions of solumedrol per day at the hospital for 3-4 days and then I might be able to start tapering again. I hope everything goes well.. I am nervous.

Experiences/advice/etc. will be appreciated!

I just got out of the hospital with IV solumedrol. I've been there twice in the last month. The first stay was 2 days and the IV solumedrol definitely helped but 4 days post hospital I was sick again. I am just 8 days out of the hospital now, but they also gave me my first dose of Remicade so although I'm feeling better I don't know if it is attributable to the solumedrol or the Remicade is working that quickly!

I was sent to the hospital a couple of months ago and received the solumedrol IV treatment. Like you, prednisone was not working. The solumedrol made a big positive difference for me. It brought my bleeding under control. It apparently also allowed the oral prednisone to become effective (which I am no longer taking).

Hopefully your experience will be similar to mine. Hang in there!

Thank you so much, I don't have a lot of support around here... :S

My first infusion went well and my cramps stopped a couple of minutes after it was done! I still have to go twice daily for 5 days and I am taking my first Imuran tonight...

I'm so happy that I can have a nap this afternoon without going to the bathrooom every 10 minutes!!!!!! I am on 100 mg imuran for 113 pounds, does that sound normal? I just hope I wont get too many side effects.. :(
