Has anyone heard of something called, "polypoid lesion" in the small bowel?  Do you know how they remove it?  Is it something akin to cancer?

I took a video capsule test and this is the result.  I can't seem to get hold of the GI and I am in panic mode.  I did research on the 'net but didn't get many answers.

I am taking some deep breaths and keeping my fingers crossed.

That is a polyp. They are benign growths within the colon, however some can be pre-cancerous. For this reason polyps are usually removed. It's done through the colonoscope and is somewhat similar to the biopsies they do during a c-scope. There may be some cramping and bleeding afterward, but it's usually minor.

Please let your breath out and try to relax. First, the vast majority of polyps are completely harmless. Second, they are usually easily removed. Third, if you have a pre-cancerous lesion you can have it removed in ample time to prevent the development of colon cancer. This is one of the only benefits of UC - we get regular scopes so if we do develop pre-cancerous lesions they can be removed before they become a big problem.

I already have a pre-cancerous nodule in my large intestine that they have to remove through surgery by colonoscopy,  but this is in the small bowel and the nurse said it is a different surgery.  My question is, what kind of surgery?

Ah, I think they can still do some of those endoscopically, otherwise I guess laparascopically. If it's any consolation to you, I do know that malignant lesions in the small intestine are pretty rare. Sorry, I'm not so up to date on small intestines.
