I have a section on the right hand side of the large bowel where there is mild inflammation which showed up on a capsule endoscopy. I have no symptoms right now and am God willing in remission.

My doctor has said that he wants to switch me to 1gram of Pentasa x 2 a day instead of the Asacol which has worked so well for me. His reason is that Pentasa releases quicker and will probably treat the right hand side better than the Asacol would.

What do people suggest? Shall I go with it? Shall do that and a suppository evey few nights? Or stick with the Asacol?

I haven't found Pentasa to be too different from Asacol, but if your doctor thinks it will work well for you then it could be worth a try, especially if you still carry on with asacol suppositories.

It's a tough call to make when you're symptom free and then told to change meds, and up to you whether you're willing to take that risk.
