I went on holiday to Canada 2 weeks ago and was nearly into remission...no blood or mucous anymore and down to around 2 BM's most days. Very tired etc all the time as I was still recovering but I was definitely on the mend.
However I had dropped down to 5mg of steroids and finally came off them on Sunday 2 weeks ago the day after I arrived. By the Weds I was feeling pretty rough and by the Thurs I was VERY nauseous and up to 8 BM's during the day and through the night also. Some blood appeared and the stool was very black. I went back on the Prednisolone 15mg and things had started to improve by the weekend. However for several nights I had searing pain whenever I lay on my right side, and alot of discomfort when I lay on my left. Now although things have improved after going back on the Pred I still need to go to the bathroom most of the time about an hour or so after I eat a meal, the BM's range between constipation, diarrhoea, formed stools and I've only noticed a small amount of fresh blood twice.
Anyone explain what is going on??! I'm worried now because my consultant said when I was in the hospital that he would try me on this last lot of steroids and this new suppository - Acetarsol, but that if this didn't work and things came back once the medication was reduced then surgery may be the option.
Also I was off work for 2 months and since then have only been working half days, I'm due back to work from my holiday tomorrow and they are expecting me full time but there is absolutely no way I feel up to that but I feel like I'm going to have to.
