Am off to see the doctor this afternoon about a persistent sore throat and cough (strep, I think)

had c-diff last december so I'm leary of taking any antibiotics, any idea what the course of action might be?

or are antiobiotics the opnly way to go?

It would depend on what you have. Hope the doc takes a swab.

A persistent cough and sore throat could also be caused by post nasal drip or even reflux, allergies, etc..

I would say it would be best for you to maybe be sent to an ENT if he's not thinking it's strep.


For strep, your best bet is antibiotics....I use Zithromax with no problems...but I've not had c.diff...

If you're not on any probiotics....please consider to use them regardless, and especially if you're put on antibiotics.

Strep usually doesn't cause a cough, so I'm guessing it's not that. My guess is that you've got a cold or allergy problems that's causing your symptoms. At any rate, I hope you feel better soon.

Strep can have a cough ..... not a diagnostic feature I would rely on, however..

Yes, it can, but it usually doesn't.
