Does anyone still flare while being on Aza/Imuran/6mp?

Hi! Been a long time, but you are all such a wealth of information...I have been taking Azathioprine for 2 yrs now. I have had little mini flares in the last couple of years, but nothing serious at all. I have been in a full flare up for the last 2 weeks, cramping, D, the whole thing. I was really hoping this drug would keep me under control longer. I can't increase my dosage according to the prometheus test I took a while back, so I'm hoping this will pass. Do any of you still have bad flares while on these drugs? Does this mean the Aza is no longer working? Could you tell me your experiences? I've had this disease so long and still can't figure it out!

Thanks for this question! I was just going to ask something similar because i have been on 6-mp for about a year now, and the last 7 or months have been great, which for me is a record, but i was really hoping for a longer remission! But now I am flaring and don't know if the 6-mp stopped working, or if this is just a little blip. I would like to add to this question if I may:
If you still do flare when on Aza, 6-mp or imuran then how do you get out of the flares? Do you have to get on pred, or do you do something else? Thanks so much, i'm seeing my GI tomorrow and would love to have some idea of what to expect

Winni, I was also in remission for about 7mos. before I had a mini flare. I add rowasa and steroid enemas which makes me feel better right away. But this flare is much worse and I am wondering if the Aza is not working anymore.

Aza worked for 6 months then 6mp worked for 6 months ....now looking at the next step....

     EW boy, looks like six months is the magic number here.  I've been in remission for six months.  Keeping my fingers crossed that remission continues.  To answer your question...I have been on 6MP for over five years and still suffer yearly flares.

Christine, do you feel that 6mp has reduced the severity of your flares? How long do your flares last? Thank you for your response.

I am taking 4 azathioprine each day.  I could not get my uc under control with azathioprine, asacol, and prednisone. I ended up on Remicade.  I have been getting infusion for 2 years and 4 months.  I feel that it is not working as well at this time.

Remicade every 7 weeks

Asacol 1600 milligrams

Azathioprine 200 milligrams

Effexor 75 milligrams
