Blood tests for uc and crohns

Does anyone know very much about the blood tests for crohns and uc (ASCA IGA, P-ANCA, ASCAIGG, Anti OMpC and Anti C bir1)? I asked my PCP to order them and she did. I am going to have the blood drawn today. I was curious as to people experience with the results they got back, the sensitivity and specificity of the tests. I am hopeful they will tell us if I have uc or not. I think they ruled out crohn's from the biopsies and said I just have another type of colitis associated with diverticula. Thanks!

If these are the tests by Prometheus labs they aren't 100% accurate. Determing whether one has UC or Crohn's is like assembling pieces of a puzzle. It's a matter of running lots of different tests, patients being honest about their symptoms, and seeing how meds affect the patient's condition. Even with all that ruling one of the IBDs out is always accurate. One can be diagnosed with UC but years later that diagnosis changes to Crohn's. What it shows is that the CD didn't manifest itself at the time of the original diagnosis.

Yes, that's the place. Looking at your profile, you've had IBD for a very long time, you probably know more than most docs out there ! I didn't realize it was so subjective. I wish the doctors would be more honest like that and tell us these things. Thank God for message boards like this! I have said that on many an occasion. I live in a small town and we don't have a support group. I'd have to travel a few hours to get to one.
I figured the lab test thing is just academic but was curious if my tests did come up positive at this point. It may settle my mind a little and prove I was right all along!!! lol... Thank you Sue.
