Hey everyone,

So i have been on Lialda and Prednisone 40mg tapering and a few months ago noticed that the Prednisone gave me diabetes and had to begin taking insuling shots. So I began to taper off of them, about one month ago i noticed that both of my legs from the knees down have a very slight numb feeling...is this a side effect of either of these medicenes or a part of this disease, i am very confused. And on top of it all i am outta my short remmision and back in a flare. Only going 2 or 3 times a day but with a decent amount of blood...any insight would be great.

Sounds like Nueropathy from the Diabetes. Is your sugar tested daily? Time for a doctors visit, me thinks....

Yes I was testing my blood sugar everyday and using insulin. I still check my sugar levels once in awhile and they have been normal.

Jason, has your doctor not even suggested any rectal meds?

Maybe you can refuse the pred and try to control your UC with just the 5ASA meds (Lialda in conjunction with Rowasa)....it's a commitment, however, if it works for you, could be a plus for you life-long.

What other supplements are you taking? You could try to add fibre supplements as well a probiotics....

The other thing...you could read the spinach/seeds diet which a few are following. I don't do it, but worth to check it out.
