Canasa reaction

I was recently on canasa (I am off of it now because the flare is under control and the canasa caused me to have severe joint pain), and it helped pretty much within the first 3 days. I did not have any increase in bowel movements, and didn't have d. Hopefully someone else will also be able to weigh on this for you with some additional information.

Well, to be honest, I am not sure what all they test for in the trial. I have a basic physical everytime I go (which levels out to be every 8 weeks, I think-right now it is every 4), and they do blood draws and urine samples everytime as well. I know they have told me before what all they test for, but for the life of me, I can't remember right now. They typically take about 4 viles of blood when I go. Oh, and I also keep a diary and have to answer questionnaires about symptoms as well as mood and other things.

So far, our trial group has responded really well. I think there has been one person who had to drop out early, but I am not sure if it was because of the Humira or for another reason.

I have been really pleased with it overall so far. I wonder how long it will take for FDA approval to come for UC though-and they never even give estimates on that!

I have been on Canasa nightly since Jan'09. The first week when i started canasa i had severe burning sensation in rectum, but it improved after a week. Though it has stopped working now despite taking double dose since May- but this is another story. I did not have any increased bowel movement with canasa. But i do feel that i am loosing hair while on canasa - maybe side effect but not sure.
Just hang in there, if your symptoms are really bad then do consult your doctor. Mine were mild though i had difficulty in sitting for a week but i was stubborn enough not to change my medicine so quick.
