Over the past year or so, one of my breasts has grown considerably larger than the other. I am in the throes of menopause, I'm 53, and the affected breast was biopsied when I was a teen. It was tender at one point but hasn;t been for awhile. Could it be hormonal?

Hi, welcome to Healingwell :) I'm not sure this is the right forum to ask this question. We are the Ulcerative Colitis forum. You may want to try over in our Breast Cancer forum (not that you have breast cancer - they just deal with most things that have to do with breasts) or find your information elsewhere on the internet.

Could be hormonal, but that doesn't seem the norm for menopausal women for their breasts to change dramatically wothout obvious organic cause.

Definitely get them checked out at a breast screening centre asap.....see a breast specialist, get lots of blood drawn and check out inflammatory breast cancer articles in case you fit into that category. I suggest this because I know of 3 women who have it...and it doesn't match much of the common info "out there".

Do check the pertinent forums on this site to get the suggestions you may need to get a proper diagnosis.

Let us know the outcome...I'm very interested in how you're doing.
