How long for Remicade

Sorry if I'm asking a repeat question, but for those of you on Remicade, how long did it take to start working? I really want this to work. I started it on Thursday and am just wondering if it is going to start working any time soon or it won't be until after the next infusion or what. The urgency has actually increased since starting it and I can't even always make it to the bathroom 10 feet from my bedroom and I'm afraid to leave the house. I feel better, though, but still lots of frequency and it will come on so quick.

For me, there was a difference after the second infusion. After the third, I was essentially in remission. Over the next six months or so I started to get my energy back, although it never has gotten to where it was before UC. But then I'm also 7 years older now.

Mine took 3 infusions. But they also increased my dose, and now I get infusions every 6 weeks. It did the trick though. After the 2nd infusion I had a bad flare, which is why they increased it. It was that or surgery so I'm glad it finally took. Hang in there.

Thanks. My GI doctor said it was this or surgery, too, so I really want it to work. I hope it won't take that long for it to work for me. i feel like a bad mom

I noticed a definite improvement within days, but it took almost a year of infusions before I was able to finally get off of Prednisone and really feel like I was in remission. Even so, I am not 100%, but I'd not give up the Remicade for anything. It has been a real godsend and I am *almost* "normal.

At some point I do feel I will behaving my colon removed, we shall see.

Mine also took 3 infusions before I noticed any significant difference. Hang in there. I know it's hard, I relapsed badly after having my son last April too.

It took me 4-5 infusions plus the right combo of rectal meds to reach remission. If it doesn't start working right away, don't worry! I actually did worse and had to schedule surgery, until we realized that the only inflammation left was in my rectum.

haha, i totally just did that

good news, I really am feeling better today and yesterday. I am still having quite a bit of frequency but BMs are actually starting to form for the first time in a long time and I have no bleeding. Now if it keeps up when tapering the Prednisone, I will be so happy
