My GI Doc confused the heck out of me!

My GI doc told me my CRP test was normal and then said that the tests weren't reliable because there could actually be lots of inflamation?!?! I'm in a flare now and I don't even understand why he ordered the tests if its not reliable!! I have no blood or mucus, just 2-3 bouts of D w/terrible cramping and weakness. I'm thinking about getting a new GI doc.

Actually, it's true. I asked my doc about that a while back and he said some patients ring true to the test regarding flaring, while others clearly do not.

Some patients also have obvious inflammation but relatively low symptoms where others have relatively low inflammation with obvious symptoms.

For those who ring true for the test, it can help with possibly the bigger-gun meds...regarding UC.

Where exactly is your UC?..limited or throughout?

How long have you been on the entocort? That could be causing your fatigue..you are also a busy mom of 3 kids..

You might consider to start some fibre supplements to help bulk the stool a bit and maybe consider retention enemas rather than just the Canasa.

I probably brought this up before, but fish oil supplements caused very loose stool for me...

Seeking another GI's opinion can be a good thing....probably worth the consideration if you're not getting enough answers.

When I was first dx it was limited to the rectu but now it has spread up the left side of the colon. I ordered some of the Primadophilus Reuteri probiotics the other day. This is day 3 on the Entocort. I've been moticing atrhritis type pain in my arms and knees. I'm supposed to go back to work tomorrow. Not sure I'm up to it. I'm trying to figue out if I may need a short term disability until this thing gets under control.
