HANDS HURT!!!!!!!!! Rant

If it's not one thing its another. The past three weeks I have really noticed my PIP joints (first joints in fingers), hurting alot. I know it can be all UC related and probably is. Classic area for arthritis in the hands. I messaged my docs office to ask if it could be a side affect of this silly research drug I am on. Actually x-rayed my hands just to have a look myself at joint spacing. Structure is normal. I have found a new respect for people with arthritis in the hands. Upped my DHA to 2000 mg/day, to see if that helps any. Just ended a long pred taper a couple months ago, so I may have had this for awhile and the steroid was just masking it. That's all I need is a bad cramp, and I can't get my pants unbuttoned quick enough cause of my hands, lol.

I had trigger fingers on the middle two fingers and thumbs of both hands, Dr. A, and I know several UC-ers who have had them. They can be a real problem; the first time, they got so bad that any time I tried to bring my thumb and any finger together, my whole hand would cramp up and posture.

I ended up having cortisone shots which made it all go away. Then I had shoulder surgery and rehabbed my way back into trigger fingers (all that pressure on my palms), so had another set of injections. No problems in the past three years. If I weren't afraid it would set them off, I'd be keeping my fingers crossed.

I can sooo relate! I have arthritis is my fingers and when it flares up, I can do almost next to nothing. It's very frustrating. Oh and I also have carpal tunnel, tendonitis, trigger finger and Raynauds in my fingers.

i'm in a flar now and my right hand the pinkie finger and the two fingers next to it i can't bend them three fingers at all . the only thing that seems to help is soaking them in hot water . so i feel your pain .
