I saw my GI specialist last week and although I feel like I am in remission, she thinks there may still be a bit of inflammation due to the remaining symptoms I have (mainly, mushy poop. I never have fully formed firm stool like I did pre-UC. Plus I get UCish symptoms occasionally during my period which I thought was common but she frowned when she heard about
that).
Anyway, she wants me to have a sigmoidoscopy just to see how things are doing. Apparently the only prep for this is the fleet enemas? No liquid diet? Is that right? For those of you who have had a sig, do you agree there is no need to go on a liquid diet beforehand?
As for the fleet enema, she has instructed me to use one at 6 am, a second at 7 am. I am to be at Admitting at 9 am, which means I likely have to leave my house at 7:45 with it being rush hour. I've never done a fleet enema, or any enema! Does that give it enough time to do its thing??
