GI letter now confused

Hi all received a letter from GI yesterday and looks like U/C has spred but not sure it says right side clear but left colon,transverse colon and sigmoid colon showing features of active-u/c and he has called it sub total i can not find this any idea how much bowel is now affected sa i  was first dx with left sided this seems very much more your wisdom needed with thanks

Left sided colitis affects (from the bottom up) the rectum, sigmoid and all or part of the left side of the colon. Yours has now extended across the top of the upside-down U shape of your colon, but not into the right side, which connects with the small intestine.

so it is really most of it about 75% would that be right he also wants to talk about 6mp on my next visit on 2nd sept am not sure about that scares me but might not have a choice.

Transverse colon = the part that crosses your torso (under the navel) then joins the (left) descending colon near the spleen. "75% of colon now affected by UC" sounds about right. If your right colon were affected, too, you'd have "pancolitis". "Sub-total" means less than total (colon area). Sorry that you have more inflammation than before; it's not uncommon with UC & your doctor is responding in the usual way, wanting to change your med(s) because what you've been taking does not seem sufficient to control the level of inflammation you have. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

thanks Old Hat sounds like dr is on the right track just hope it stays where it is and does not get any worse.
