Need some advice.

Yesterday morning I had 3 loose bm and felt nauseous, my intestine felt so sore and tender and my joints were hurting. So I thought my colitis was flaring again.

This morning I have 1 loose bm with urgency, but have bad joint pains and intestinal pain.

My appetite is low, so eaten very minimal but have drank lots of water.

I decided to go to the doctors to get some stronger pain killers but he was concerned saying I may need to go into hospital for a bowel rest.
So I rang him back a few hours later and he was saying the hospital said you don't get pain with colitis and would only admit me if I had 7+ watery bm aday with blood and mucus, so the doctor said he wanted a surgeon to look at my tummy because it could be serious.

So I am not bleeding, no mucus, just pain and urgency and loose bm 1-3 times a day. What does this sound like to you guys I am worried now.

Not sure where they get the idea of no pain with UC. It's always possible you've caught an intestinal virus.

Pain (both intestinal and joint) IS normal with colitis, so your doc is off on that one. My doc was REALLY suprised I had absolutely no bowel pain, given that I had pancolitis and the number of BMs I was having a day. And I also think he was overreacting on the need for hospitalization and bowel rest at this point. That's usually reserved for people who are in a severe flare.

As for the intestinal virus princesa refers to, no, it's not serious (at least if I get what she's saying). She's referring to a simple virus that causes intestinal issues (vomiting, diarrhea, etc)...kind of like a cold, but affecting your gut instead of your nose and such. Many people refer to this as a tummy bug or the stomach flu.

I highly doubt your doctor is thinking you have bowel cancer.

Really, really, really, I think you need to seek counseling. You always seem so worried and anxious when you post. It's has *me* worried about you!
