Lialda vs. Asacol

My new GI doctor recently switched me from Asacol to Lialda and doubled the 5 ASA doasage that I was taking a day (now take 4 Lialda pills in the morning).

My question is, has anyone seen improvements going from Asacol to Lialda and is 4 Lialda pills a lot to take at once?

Hi Shadam -
I'm interesting in the Asacol vs. Lialda question also! My new GI wants me to consider switching on the hopes it might metabolize better. He said he'd put me on 4 a day, also, but have me take 2 in morning and 2 at night.

Four seems to be the standard dose. I have been on four Lialda a day for about two years. It's very much more convenient to take than Asacol or Colazal, but I don't notice much difference. All three are barely effective for me. I take the Lialda in conjunction with Remicade infusions.
