Amy...You could probably take both, as each has a different purpose.
The husk (is the outer covering of the seed) and has a mucilaginous effect that helps bind and bulk up BMs, the seed without the husk has properties that help heal the lining of the intestine. So, from what I know, the seed without the husk does not have the necessary properties to act as a fiber supplement.
