cort enemas

I am in this flare for over 2 months and was on the Rowasa enemas for 3 weeks and they didn't work. Doc started me on cort enemas, on these for over 3 weeks and they are not working. Monday he started me on pred. I took the cort enemas the last 3 nights along with the pred and having trouble holding them in. I am stopping these tonight and just trying the pred. After 3 weeks on these and still having symptoms I do not think they are going to help. Anyone else have the cort enemas not help?

I am curious to see what happens with the bellyaches and poop once I stop these enemas.

There came a time in which the Cortenemas stopped working for me. But I think I was becoming reistant and reliant at the same time if that makes sense. Do you know where in your colon your Uc is? If you have inflammation higher then the sigmoid section of your colon, the enemas will not be effective. Are you on oral medication as well (besides pred)? If so, what?

The first time I tried cort enemas they did nothing at all for me even though my inflamation is lower in the colon and mostly in the rectum. I was on them for six weeks with no results - I actually felt it got worse during that time. I also tried the foam for a month - no help and Canasa did not help that time either. The only thing that finally got me out of that flare was pred. With saying all that...the next time I flared the cort enemas did help so I am glad I tried them again. So the final answer is sometimes they help me and other times they do not...I have no idea why...
