I experience very high heart rates and I am(was) in shape with a lot of cycling and high altitude climbing/hiking. I was usually in the 60s into 70s.
The drugs have a lot, if not everything to do with the high resting heartrate, especially pred. I experienced a double-whammy when I was on asacol as well and I had to get off the stuff because I literally couldn't even sleep because of the tachycardia.
Also, are you anemic? See, I suffer from that, too, in conjunction with the meds. Obviously, your heart has to pump more blood so it has to beat faster. When I had first big flare up, I was so anemic, my heart rate was 120-130 for days on end. I could barely even walk to my car without getting out of breath. That plays a humungous role in your resting heart rate.
You have to watch your exercise regiment when your heart is beating more than a 100. It's grounds for a heart attack. Don't push yourself. Rest is important. Hard to be stagnant. Any chance I get at feeling any sort of energy, I want to burn it, I'm just that way. But this whole stupid disease has forced me to mellow out and heal via resting...Hope this helps
