HEY EVERYONE

Just looking for some insight on predisone i have just had a flexsig and on fri 10 23 09 and it didnt even reveal colitis just euthymouthous mucousa or somethin but i was actually awake for this flex sig usually i get put alseep but it wasnt so bad they said my rectum and sigmoid colon looked healthy very pink and healthy had a front row seat awake for this one. but i am still very symptomatic had lots of d and urgency they prescribed me pred 5mg 6x a day so 30mg and to continue taking my 4 lialda daily the pred so far and i only taken it for 3 days has reduced the d greatly. my gi said to call him in 2 weeks and they will prob start reducing the pred anyone else have the same prescription as this

I've never heard of euthymouthous mucousa and when I did a google search it turned up no results.,.. not sure about what you are trying to spell... But if your colon and rectum look pink and healthy, and without knowing what you are meaning by euthymouthous mucousa I'd wonder if you have IBS and not IBD... And wow, they are really breaking up your dose of Pred... Usually the best thing is to take it all at once in the am... but breaking it up to 6 times a day? That's a lot of times to remember to stop and take a pill... At least it sounds like it's helping and hopefully when you start tapering, things will remain stable for you...

Erythematous mucosa is redness of the rectal lining. This can happen with the very beginning or a flare, or occasionally with IBS. With that finding and the symptoms you're having, I'm surprised they put you on oral pred instead of hydorcortisone suppositories. They go straight to the problem and have less systemic effect.
