going in for a colonoscopy

Gonna make the appt tomorrow.

Basically what happened so far is I've been on pred for a week, 40mg now tappering 10mg a week, and a few days (same with the rowasa enemas). Things seemed to be improving, but last friday and over the weekend everything seemed to go back to square one.
Called the nurse and told them I was seeing lots of blood again (bright red). They gave me some more rowasa and told me that the doctor wants to do a colonoscopy.
Now this evening when I had a bm there was no blood :/ there still is pain and I feel constipated when I go.

One step forward, two steps back is the dance move for Uc :( I hope everything goes well with the scope and you can find some answers to help you.

Make sure to tell the doctor (either before the procedure or right at the procedure) to make sure to put you completely OUT. Tell him that you really don't want to wake up and are really sensitive and don't want to remember anything. Believe me, I've had enough colonoscopies to know this is important.

Most people don't realize that they have the right to ask for lots of medication, anesthesia, etc. If you don't, he may not give enough and it's not really pleasant.

I'd also suggest that you use rowasa nightly until you've been in remission for at least 2-3 weeks. And that's a good, solid, real remission! Then you could go to every other night for a while, and assuming things stay ok, then drop to twice weekly. That's where I am now and where I intend to stay.
