i am having constant pain in my right side. it feels like a cramp after running but then gets worse to the point where i can't move for a few seconds. along with this i constantly feel like i need to use the bathroom and every time i go to go all that is there is clumps of mucus and blood. this has been going on for a while now and my doctors keep telling me this is normal. i currently take 2 50mg ultram every night for pain along with 2 tylenol this has not even been working. if anyone has any advice on what to do or use please let me know. the only suppository i take is anusol i think i need something stronger or more for the uc.

Which doctor told you this was normal?
Are you seeing a GI, as mucus and blood are signs of a flare.
Where is your UC? How long have you had these symptoms?

If you have left sided, sigmoiditis or proctitis, pain on the right side is not normal for your Uc. To me it sounds like it can be your gall bladder or liver if it's higher up on the right side or if it's lower then maybe your appendix. If the pain keeps persisting then I would recommend you seek a second opinion.

Proctiitis? Are you on any other rectal meds? My understanding was that anusol was for hemmies.
I have proctitis and had tons of mucus, I was initially started on a steroid enema and that cleared up the mucus within 2 weeks, that was my first symptom to disappear and it has not returned. I'm now on max does of pentasa suppositories, however I am still having issues with frequncy and urgency (so I'm back on the prednisolone).
I personally feel that you have every right to question the treatment you are on, the symptoms you describe are indicators of inflammation and flaring and as such should be treated, if your inflammation is low down you need to be on an appropriate rectal med ( and I don't think anusol qualifies-I may be wrong??).

ive been in the same spot as you and it lasted the whole flare. one was over a year and 4 months.
constant pain, constant bleeding. was normal for me. i didnt know any different.
i take endone (oxycodone) for the pain. its the only thing that works.
i had right sided and left sided and up top above the belly button.
but i also had a flare in my entire colon.
