I know canker sores are really common with UC sufferers, but I seem to get them EVERY time I start getting over an illness, EVERY time I start getting over a flare, and then a few more will pop up for good measure. I'm getting over a cold from this weekend, and I have one right on the underside of the tip of my tongue, and every time I swallow or try to lick something off my teeth I am greeted by an exquisite sensation of pain.

It sucks that UC sufferers get to deal with stupid things like this along with our butts.

And as far as I know there's not even any way to get rid of the darn things faster. If anybody knows any remedy for canker sore relief, please, let me in on your secret!

OUCH, I know, I used to get them alot, but since I started taking probiotics daily for the last 5ish yrs now I haven't had a single one, among the other benefits of taking a good probiotic daily and indefinitely it's well worth it.

     When I was a kid I got them all the time.  Now I only get them while in flares.  I remember something called Alum...burned like the dickens but got rid of the ulcer (we always called them ulcers in the mouth).  Your pharmacist should tell you what to put on it.

Try baking soda,,, it stings but seems to get ride of them faster? Try to dry the area a bit and then just cake it on. It will disolve in your mouth ( tastes bad, but worth it ). I only did it for bad ones, usually before bed works good.

I get a mouthwash, Peridex, from my dentist. It really helps clear up canker sores, bites, whatever in your mouth. Just be sure you wait a half hour before drinking water, because it will taste awful if you do that.

As I've gotten older, i've gotten them less and less often. On the otehr hand, when I do get them, they are more painful and they seme to last a few days longer. I hate cankers, they are the worst!!!

Sorry, I don't know any quick heal or even a solution for making the pain less.

My husband has a lot of problems with canker sores. I was in the pharmacy aisle at my grocery store one day, and saw a product called "Canker Cover." They're these little patches that you place over the sore, and they're supposed to stay there for something like 24 hours. DH has only had one since I bought them, and he used them and said he thinks it worked. It didn't get nearly as sore nor last as long as they usually do. He said he's not sure if it's because it was covered and he didn't accidentally bite it (he always seems to) or because of the medication in the product.

Oh my god. My last flair up I've never had any pain like I had then, thank god in my current flair I haven't had ANY canker sores...

But in my first flair up, I counted 25! they were in my throat, all over and under my tongue, my gums, I couldn't eat or even drink! any movement was intense pain.

What pretty much saved my life and instant relief (still ridiculous pain because I had a VERY severe case but if you just have a few it would give instant relief) the product is called Cepacol sore throat spray.. works great try it out!

I guess I have been one of the lucky ones. The last time I had a canker sore was when I was like 8 years old. I have seen my friends suffer from them a plenty though. I just wanted to say that I hope you feel better soon and you find something to take care of this for you.

My Dentist gave me a prescription mouthwash that seems to help - let me find out what it is and i'll let you know.
