Steroids and blood

Why do steroids stop the bleeding? -- definitely a newbie question

Prednisone is an anti inflammatory medicine.. That's why it works so well with people who have arthritis and that skin disorder.. I can't spell... Psorisis?? Or something like that.. too bad it has horrid side effects... lol... It calms down inflammation, allowing ulcerations to heal up and therefore the bleeding stops :)
