christine, i want you to know i'm praying for you.  I have seen your postings over the months and i have seen you suffer a great deal and you always seem to keep an upbeat attitude.  I'm sure you have your down times, but i appreciate you keeping your head up.  I too have had a rough year or so which has been difficult with 2 small children 5 and 3.  But I finally just realized i could not let fear rule me anymore.  I spent the last 5 yrs completely crippled with fear.  I finally just decided I am in God's hands and I will do what I can to get well.  I hoped He would just take it away, but if He wanted to use meds, then okay.  I started the remicade thursday and had surgeon appt fri. as last option if remi did not work as i was too bad to just ride it out.  The remi is working amazing it seems as i am already down to 3 bm's only 2 days after the initial infusion.  The pain and urgency is gone completely.  If you decide to go the remi path, let me know and I believe very strongly in prayer and will have my church even praying believing you will have NO negative effects from the drug even though you have been exposed to TB.  I know it is a hard decision, but once you make it, don't let fear have any place.  UC takes enough from us, so live your life in freedom from fear and We will belive that this chapter will pass and you WILL enjoy the rest of your life.

     lucas.....Thank you so very much for these kind words and prayers.  I am a firm believer in prayer too.  It has gotten me through some very tough times in life.  Last year I was hospitalized for ten days and I honestly thought they were going to carry me out in a box.  My blood pressure was out of control (210/110), I had a PIC line in and the steroids increased my blood sugar so high they had to administer insulin.  After being discharged I was still quite ill for several months.  I enjoyed a seven month remission (nov of 08 thru May of 09) and then flared again.  Was able to taper off the prednisone by end of August and now flaring AGAIN.

     My heart goes out to you.  You are so young to be suffering so.  I just cannot imagine having to take care of children while in this condition.  I couldn't even watch my grandchildren this summer and we always took them camping with us in past summers.

     I had the PPD test on Friday.  I cannot even see where the nurse inserted the needle!!  That is good news huh?    The doctor placed me on 30 mgm of prednisone on Friday, so far, no relief though, and I hope it didn't give the PPD test a false negative.

     What exactly were your symptoms and what meds were you on?  I stopped the 6MP as it wasn't helping me at all.

     I will keep you in my prayers also.  Thank you so much once again.  I need all the prayers I can get.

christine, my symptoms were of course bad D. 15 times a day or so with quite a bit of bleeding which caused me to have to have blood transfusions a couple weeks ago....i had bad urgency and often could not hold it for 2 minutes to make it to a toilet. I was in quite a bit of pain in my colon. I had a colonoscopy which showed as the dr called it very sever colitis throughout the entire colon. he basically told me i would have to get surgery cause he did not think the remicade would work for me. I was on 6mp but had only been on it a couple weeks and did not have a few months to see if it would work for me. I was on as much as 60mg of pred with no results at all. So the remi is def a miracle drug for me as i have only been 4 days since infusion and am almost symptom free already. I would def. encourage it if you can take it....keep me posted.....with prayers...luke
