Empty script- what to do??

Friday night I called in my colazal and the automated thing told me I'm out of refills and they would call my GI on Monday to authorize the refill. The thing is I was COMPLETELY out after my last dose Friday and I live 1.5 hours from home. I asked the pharmacy to give me enough pills to get me through the week and they did but when I looked in the bottle it was enough to get me through like Tuesday. So now I'm running low on colazal and I won't be home until Friday afternoon. Should I skimp on my doses to get me through Friday morning or go through the trouble of transferring the script to where I currently live? I'm normally sooo good about keeping up on my refills but they give me colazal in this humongous (and I mean huge) bottle so I kept my old bottles and put the pills in those because the script number is the same.

Take care of this as best you can, considering that you had a blip not too long ago. I take that to mean you need Colazal full strength. Tell the pharma that they only gave you enough thru Tuesday instead of a week's supply. It can be a drag keeping after refills, getting dr's authorizations, as I well know (have to pursue my own this week) -- but it really is essential to keep UC under control. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I'm not sure what the problem is...???? all you need to do is call a local pharmacy & have them transfer the script from your old pharmacy. They can also contact the GI's office for refill authorizations. It's really really really easy. Why wouldn't you have your scripts filled at a pharmacy close to where you live anyway? Isn't that the easiest option? Or do mail-order- 3 month supply, 1 month copay, mail delivery. That's by far the easiest option- which is why I use it! It's a pain to keep running to the pharmacy monthly.

I don't have my prescriptions filled where I am now because 1) I'm under my parents insurance and they would have to transfer money to my account whenever I needed my meds (and that in itself is a problem because of our bank) 2) I go home every weekend so this is rarely ever a problem 3) I'm only where I currently live for school during the summer live at home 4) If I did transfer all my meds up here I would have to transfer them maybe during winter break and definitely during the summer to my pharmacy at home and I have 4 different scripts
I guess I'm wasn't looking to justify why I have my meds filled where I do, rather whether you guys thought I could make it til the end of the week without full doses or if I need to maintain my full dose.

I suppose it depends on what the half-life for Colazal is.... I mean, a med like Imuran takes months to get up to therapeutic level in your blood- I'm sure Colazal takes a couple days, at least. So if you do half-doses or something until you can fill your scrips, I doubt your body would even register the difference. Call a pharmacist- they can answer any med question much more accurately. Hey, you don't need to justify anything, but you did ask if you ought to "go through the trouble of transferring your script"- sorry you weren't pleased with the responses.
