I feel like I am trying quite a few different treatments, but I have no idea what is working or what is hurting. Currently I am tapering off of prednisone, I am determined never to take it again, as it didn't really help me and the side effects are too much. I also tried the proctofoam, with little to no improvement. Currently, this is what I am taking:
20mg prednisone
3x lialda
1x canasa at night
psyllium husk powder
turmuric w/ bromelain
I've also been eating salmon, spinach, sunflower butter etc, waiting on psyllium seed powder coming in the mail (keeping fingers crossed for this to work)
So far I am still bleeding most of the time I have a BM, except usually I have one or so normalish one during the middle of the day. By the night its bad again. My question is: how do we know what works or not? Should I stop the lialda and canasa altogether and see if those drugs could possibly be holding me back or just doing nothing? It just seems like no matter what I try, there is little improvement. I've been flaring this entire year.
At this point, would something like rowasa enemas or some other drug suddenly be a miracle for me, considering nothing else has put me into remission? I am not near needing surgery, and would like to avoid the more intense biologic drugs if possible. I'm hoping to reach remission some other way.
PS I am in my last few weeks of college before graduating, and I feel like the stress of this along with having a cold may be preventing me from healing right now. My sleep schedule is totally messed up from studying into the night etc. Perhaps I won't be able to find healing until after I get past this stressful time.
