How do you get your B12 and what dose?
Being anal about my colon (excuse the pun) I regularly try to get my blood counts measured every few months. Vitamin B12 and folate levels can be measured separately as requested during your next blood work.
Crohn’s people have a problem since their disease affects the small intestine where many nutrients are absorbed especially B12, folic acid, and zinc. B12 and folic acid deficiencies can be detected with blood panels. If B12 cannot be absorbed thru the damaged intestine then B12 shots will work. But I am not sure if a zinc deficiency can be detected with a blood panel. Maybe it can.
Some theorize that one reason Crohn’s sufferers sometimes have abscesses and fistulas that are very slow in healing is because they may be deficient in zinc which is crucial for wound healing.
