Get so wiped out so easily, ugh!

Just need to b**** a bit, if y'all don't mind.

I am just so tired of getting so tired so easily. My husband and I live outside of Washington DC and felt like hitting the Newseum today. I convinced him that we should drive in because riding in on the Metro PLUS hitting museums always wipes me out. I thought by driving in I'd be okay. But I am COMPLETELY spent and we only spent a few hours in the Newseum and really paced ourselves. It is one of the few museums in DC that charges admission and it wasn't cheap, so I'm also annoyed with myself that my fatigue caused me to not enjoy it as much as I could have.

This is why I am having the j-pouch surgery. So many post-surgical posters to this board and to the j-pouch.org board swear they get their energy back almost immediately. I am apprehensive about the procedure and recovery, but I am also really looking forward to getting my life back. Right now I pretty much work and then spend the rest of the day recovering from working (sacked out on the couch with my beagles).

Thanks for being here and letting me get my whine on. I am sure my family is getting just a little weary of it ;-)

ugh, I hear you. Whenever I see people posting that Pred gives them energy, I am jealous because it certainly hasn't been that way for me :D
I go to bed at around 8 with my son (he doesn't fall asleep without me yet) and I am still tired in the morning. When I was at my worst, I didn't really even get out of bed.
I hope your surgery goes well!

i go from the bed to the office for an hour then back to the bed. then down to the couch and then back to the bed.
then maybe back to the office to sort more stuff out for an hour or 2 then back to bed.
then dinner that ketih has to cook cuz i cant stand in the kitchen long enough to cook.
then back to bed after maybe an hour or 2 on the couch.

being tired and weak from early pregnancy here and then colitis and anaemia is taking its toll.

it doesnt help that it is so hot either. i think summer has come early. its like over 90 degrees outside. uggg.

usually pred zaps me too. except the one time when i got out of hospital in 2007.
i was on high dose for a while and it gave me insomnia.
the house was never so clean. i even had the shakes.
sucked!

other than that one time, i owe energy!

Thanks denise, I just can't let it take my life away. I just try to pace myself as much as I can. A short outing is worth having to crash on the couch. Living near Washington DC we get lots of out of town guests. They're mostly family and friends and very understanding. I'm selective about when I go sightseeing with my guests and when I send them out on their own. Typically visitors want to be out and doing stuff all day long -- I'll meet them wherever they're at mid-day. Cell phones make it easy to hook back up.

Now though I am just (somewhat anxiously) looking forward to the surgery and getting my life back.

I had energy when I first got UC, but now that I'm on my first flare since being in remission it's the total opposite. Even when I take pred I don't get an energy boost like a previous poster said. Yesterday my wife wanted the lawn mowed and she ended up doing it herself. I felt so bad, I even tried to do it before she started but I could barely pull the cord to start the lawn mower. My daughter is 3 and wants her daddy to play with her but I can barely keep up with her for 3 mins. It's very frustrating, I want to help and play but feel so helpless.
