My doctor is changing my meds from asacol to lialda. Do I have to ween off the asacol or can I just one day stop the asacol and take the lialda? Or is there a introduction period or how does this work. Anyone have any experience in changing from asacol to lialda

Nope, just stop Asacol and start Lialda. They contain the same active ingredient, and it's not like you have to taper off of something like Asacol for fear of adrenal shock like you have to do with prednisone. When I switched from Asacol to Apriso (another mesalamine), I just finished my bottle of Asacol and started the Apriso the next day.

Good luck with the switch! Please keep us posted. Will your insurance cover Lialda? / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.] ; brandname Colazal has been my best med to-date)
