Remi infusion delayed

I was supposed to have my third infusion last Monday. I had been really sick with a cold the week before and still had a cough so the GI did not want me to take the infusion. He did a chest x-ray and it was clear but he still didn't want me to take it as long as I had a productive cough. They rescheduled for last Friday but still had the cough. Now it is scheduled for next Monday. Still not completely over cold but maybe by then I will be. Got an appointment with my family doc. tomorrow for a follow-up.

I was wondering if anyone has had to have their infusions delayed and how it affected them. I am concerned since this is just my third infusion. It was supposed to be a month from my last one but now it will be 6 weeks if I am well enough to take it.

Remi has worked great for me. I saw results immediately. I don't want anything to interfere with my progress.

My infusions have been all screwed up since the beginning! After the first one, I wound up with strep pneumonia, sepsis, & drug-induced hepatitis & was in the ICU for a week. So dose 2 wasn't until the 3rd or 4th week after that. Then, not too long ago, I had to delay another one, due to a slight fever the day I was scheduled to get it. It really shouldn't affect you much- I think ideally, you should have the loading doses in schedule, etc, but overall, if you get the drug, you get the drug! And you DO NOT want to get an infusion if you're at all sick- that's why I got so ill after the first one. My GI & myself figured I had had the pneumonia prior to the 1st dose, & the Remicade knocked it into total high gear. Bad move. I think the pneumonia symptoms hadn't really started to manifest themselves, plus I was on pred at the time which can mask signs of illness. You'll be ok, really!

Wow Eva, you were one sick pup!!! I had a friend who died from sepsis back in 05. She was a Crohn's patient for twenty years, took herself off prednisone years ago (I have no idea why she did that cold turkey) and threw herself into Addison's Disease. She was complaining of a back ache the week before she passed, which was Christmas week that year and the following week her daughter called me to tell me she had died.....total shock! Apparently, she had an infection in her kidney which she just sloughed off as a back ache. Still can't get over losing her...she was my friend since childhood.
