OT-Medical Records

If I want my own copy of my medical records, I have to pay $1.11 per page! And my file is HUGE. It'd probably cost me over $100. That is insane. I understand that ink and paper cost money, but it should be like 10 cents per page, not over a $1 per page!

Outrageous! Some of the pages might not even be worth copying-- so beware. Ca. a yr back I happened to be alone with my so-called "chart" in the exam room so I looked at the top few pages. My gastro had written so illegibly that no one else would be able to decipher what was actually put down there! (No reason to pay for copying stuff unless it's really useful ...) / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I usually ask for labs for the past six months, reports from studies (scopes, MRI's, etc.), any operative or procedure reports and six months worth of progress notes. If you're going monthly, you could probably get by with three months rather than six.
