Hi I am new to this forum

I have been diagnosed with UC this year
It has been a horrible experience

I was wondering if anyone on here has pyoderma gangrenosum
Due to there UC?

If so what treatment did you receive?

Hi, welcome to Healingwell :) I haven't seen too many here that suffer from PG but some may come here to help you. I do, however, want to direct you to the Crohn's forum. They have many more people there that are dealing with this. So you may want to ask this on the Crohn's forum as well.

Hi if you are still around.

My dad had PG...he had it for years before they figured out what it was.  He took cyclosporine.  A very powerful and useful drug for him, but it kills the kidneys.  It was the only thing that worked for him so he took it.

I will go look for you on the Crohn's forum as well.

I went to the doctors today but he seems to think its dermatitis
but i dont think it is.
It doesnt look like dermatitis to me and has all the charatictics of pg but its on my hand

Well I think you can have it on your hand...my dad's was on his feet but from what I understand it can be anywhere.  PG and IBD are related I believe.

Do you have open ulcers?  It is very painful? 

If you think you need to, I'd get a 2nd opinion.

I am also new here and I am currently receiving treatment for a second outbreak of Pyoderma Gangrenosum with a history of UC. as well as other autoimmune issues.

It seems that PG treatment is very personalized and what works for some doesn't work for most.
Last time I has success with Remicade/ niacin/cellcept and doxycycline. ( prednisone does not work for me and I an have a sulpha allergy)
Topical - clobetasol/ regranex and apligraph skin grafts. Kenalog injections around the active ulcer.
More than a year to heal.
I was a long haul so my re occurrence is a real drag.

My treatment this time arround is Humira 1x per week/niacin /doycycline.
clobetasol and aczone topically. I had to discontinue the aczone since it has a sulpha component and I had a reaction after using it for 4 weeks.Kenalog injections as noted above.
Things were moving toward healing but I have a new out break/ I am hoping to add cellcept and a 6 day cycle to the humira. and weekly site injections of kenalog.
My outbreaks occur on my torso.
Dont forget the pain meds! Percocet 24/7 when the flareup is active. And you all know what I mean.
