Methotrexate

Is anyone else in the U.Colitis world taking Methotrexate? I'm currently taking 1 ml injections, once a week. I'm currently three weeks in. Apparently it takes 6-8 weeks for the medicine to take affect. So far it's too early, but I'm REALLY hopefull that remission kicks in and I don't have a bad reaction to it like I did with Imuran. *shudders*

Prednisone is a joke now. It helps a LITTLE, but I've been on it for 2.5 years and I think I've really built up a resistance to it. Has anyone else seen this happen? I'm hoping that once the Metho kicks in I can taper off the Prednisone for good. I can handle a shot once a week if it'll work.

 

I took methotrexate shots for about 4 months but didn't see any improvement. I now am on Remicade & take Methotrexate tablets 3 times a week.

It took me I believe closer to 12 weeks for the methotrexate to start working, so give it some time if you can. After about 5 months  I cut down from 1ml to .6ml, whch I believe is 15mg. That worked out just fine, but just this past week I've started to notice mucous and blood again. I'm hoping it's nothing, but we'll see.

I already tried Imuran, Remicade and the 5ASAs are all no good for me. I think the final options are HUMIRA and then surgery.
