INDEED! The legislative wrangling has been sickening, especially considering how many adults lost insurance, can't afford adequate coverage, fell into the Medicare Rx "doughnut hole" where they must pay for all meds out-of-pocket from pension income, etc., etc. I keep e-mailing my state's Senators + the Prez to tell them that we need single payer universal coverage in the U.S. Not just so that everyone has access to quality affordable care, but also to facilitate info-gathering on IBD & other lesser-known chronic illnesses-- because under the present system, it's not even known exactly how many in the country suffer from UC or Crohn's, nor where/how the patient population is distributed. We don't need bills that coddle the high-priced insurance executives & big pharma who gouge us for care & meds that keep us going. Grrrrrrrrr. And then some in Congress try to trample women's rights, besides!!!!!!!! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])
