Can anyone try and piece this together for me?
11 days ago I had blood on the tissue after a period of anxiety and a loose bowel movement which I put down to piles or a mini flare. I was prescribed Pentasa Foam Enema but as the bleeding had stopped immediately I decided not to take the foam but to use suppositories in addition to upping my Pentasa to 4.5 grams a day.
I still can't seem to recover from this and I have had 10 days normal to loose stools no matter what I eat or try. During that time I took Imodium but it gave me constipation and small stools so stopped it last week.
Now these past two days the stools have got even looser with the BM I just had showing diarrhoea.
I cannot put my finger on what's wrong.
I have two bowel movements a day with no urgency, I don't feel unwell or anything even though I am mildly conscious of this which is making my IBS worse...I don't seem to have any mucous or anything, just loose stools/diarrhoea.
My question is:
1. When should I start the Foam Enema?
2. Should I take Imodium?
3. Should I up the fibre intake?
4. What is the best solution for diarrhoea only?
I am mindful that this might be the beginning of a flare up and I want to ensure I can stop it before it goes any further. The thing with upping the meds and adding foam etc is that Mesalzine can often cause Diarrhoea if taken too much?
Many thanks for your help.
