Diagnosed with proctosigmoiditis 7 years ago. Taking Salofalk 2g enema nightly + 2 400mg ASA tabs and was doing great.
For the last few days I appear to have been flaring in an unusual way with a dull ache in my abdomen that is worst after a bowel movement or supper (mornings and lunches are less painful) that lasts for up to 6 hours before receding slightly. The ache is painful but manageable with 1 extra strength Tylenol. Bowel movements are normal and timely (no diarrhea, no mucous). Prior to this I had some intermittent cramping on and off for 4 days. No temperature, no vomiting. Has anyone experienced anything like this?
My doctor originally started me on Nexium thinking my stomach was causing my issues. That hasn't resolved anything. Xrays show no distention or acute abnormalities. Next thing to try is cipro/flagyl for 10 days and if that is not successful prednisone for 10 days.
Suffering,
j.
