Hi I am 30 and have just been diagnosed with Uc well at least I think I have... I had bad rectal bleeding Diarrhea with mucus for about 2/3 months I had a scope 2 weeks ago and just got biopsy results from my GP. she said the pathologist result showed mild UC and it is all in the lower part of my bowel. I am just waiting now to go back into the hospital to speak with the consultant because my GP reckons he will give me a clearer picture because he has seen scope aswell. I have been on Pentasa sachets and enemas for the 2 weeks since the scope and all was going well until today, I feel fine but there was blood and mucus back in my stool no Diarrhea and no cramps I suppose it takes a while to balance out?? I am feeling a bit lost and my husband is freaking out I am trying to stay calm and get healthy but feel a bit confused about what to eat and I know I need to excersise but I am feeling a bit unmotivated at the minute...and a little scared about the future I am so frightened that I will spend the rest of my life thinking about this and being sick ...I have 2 small children and I just want to be well..

Hi there...It can be a bit overwhelming to deal with things at the beginning. But once you research your options and figure out a treatment plan with your dr., things should get a lot easier to handle.

Yes, sometimes in can take longer than 2 weeks for the medicines to have an effect, and maybe the doses need to be adjusted or you might need to take them more often. Your dr. should be able to guide you on that when you consult with him. Hope you're fine soon.

Yeah I think I am having a down day I am overthinking the situation and imagining the worst possible outcome, I am trying to figure everything fast I suppose I need to slow down and adjust. I am also wondering if it is possible to not take medication if diet alone could help?
