cort enemas/suppostories and the thinning of the rectal wall

I am still in a bit of a flare, no bleeding but mucus and urgency. I was wondering, since my doctor said he would not do the colonoscopy while I am still on prednisone because prednisone thins the lining of the colon.....the enemas and suppositories have got to do the same thing. Could be the urgency is coming from overuse of the suppositories? Maybe the lining in my rectum is worn out? rolleyes

I am using the cort enemas now to try and kill a flare and my doctor didn't say how long he felt comfortable with me using them, but I can certainly ask him at my Tuesday appointment about thinning etc. I suspect the answer is yes, because I know hydrocortisone cream thins the skin when used externally for extended periods. I just have no concept of how long it takes for that to happen. How long have you been using the cort enemas?

I don't have any idea, Christine. I'm sorry you're so uncomfortable, though. That really stinks.
