Diarrhea and anal fissures

My first GI, who basically trained me how to live with this beast, used to say to lubricate it constantly, at least at every BM, and to try "almost anything" - I've used things from vaseline to prep H to cortisone cream, depending on what was in the bathroom and handy. My doc's point was that keeping it lubricated was more important than angsting over the perfect lubricant, given that in a flare it was going to be washed away quickly anyway!
I think some folks have done well with A and D, which is what is used on babies for diaper rash....
